Get Ready for Your Miracle!

Get Ready for Your Miracle!!

Joshua 3:1 (NKJV)
1
Then Joshua rose early in the morning; and they set out from Acacia Grove and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they crossed over.

The Children of Israel are about to go someplace they’ve never gone as a nation before. They need direction, they need to know what to do next. Are you ready to go someplace you’ve never gone before, you know that dream we talked about last week, the one birthed by God in your spirit. Is this church ready to go someplace it’s never gone before? Joshua vs 2-6 shows us clearly what we must do in order to accomplish this God given task into the unknown… View full article »

Beyond the Altar

Beyond the Altar

1 Kings 18:30-34 (NKJV)
30
Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come near to me.” So all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the Lord that was broken down.31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Israel shall be your name.”
32a Then with the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord;

Elijah chose the Altar as the place to start for change in His countries life

  • It was His first choice

  • It was His only choice

  • It was the right choice

But Altars are made for a Sacrafice-

  • A place where we bring something that we leave behind

  • Not a small, non costly item but a life changing offering that moves you to action

Elijah shows us in the next few verses what a costly sacrifice is… View full article »

The Need for Fresh Fire

1 Kings 18:1-2 (NKJV)

1 And it came to pass after many days that the word of the Lord came to Elijah, in the third year, saying, “Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the earth.”
2 So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab; and there was a severe famine in Samaria.

21 And Elijah came to all the people
I Kings 18:1-2 sets up the prelude before the infamous meeting on Mt Carmel between Elijah and the 450 prophets of Baal. Verse 1 says that the Word of the Lord came to Elijah and said “ Go and present yourself to Ahab and I will send rain on the earth. There was a severe famine in Samaria. God sends Elijah to set up a meeting and a confrontation. There is a spiritual and now a physical drought upon the land and the people need to be convinced to turn back to the Lord. As Elijah is walking up the mountain, what will he do, what will he say to bring the people back to the Lord.

  • Will he give a great oratorical speech?
  • Will He make a compromise to woo the people back to God?
  • Will he call for healing rain just to show the goodness of who God is?

Elijah sees the people are in desperate need of reconnecting to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and He quickly sees there is need for one thing…there is a need for fire!! A defining moment where the View full article »

Preparing for Personal Fire

1 Kings 18:21-29 (NKJV)
21
And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word.
22
Then Elijah said to the people, “I alone am left a prophet of the Lord; but Baal’s prophets are four hundred and fifty men.
23
Therefore let them give us two bulls; and let them choose one bull for themselves, cut it in pieces, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other bull, and lay it on the wood, but put no fire under it.
24
Then you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord; and the God who answers by fire, He is God.” So all the people answered and said, “It is well spoken.”
25
Now Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one bull for yourselves and prepare it first, for you are many; and call on the name of your god, but put no fire under it.”
26
So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, “O Baal, hear us!” But there was no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.
27
And so it was, at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, “Cry aloud, for he is a god; either he is meditating, or he is busy, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is sleeping and must be awakened.”
28 So they cried aloud, and cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.
29
And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice. But there was no voice; no one answered, no one paid attention.

There was no Voice, No one answered, no one paid attention..

What a conclusion, what a picture of Israel’s best solution to their problems. Looking at this passage we see the crushing cost to finding our own way to answering Life’s biggest issues.

Vs 26a They cried out to a View full article »

Being a minister in full-time service, I often find myself giving encouraging words and aiding people in the midst of their storms. How simple it is to quote scripture and pray a 30 second prayer and walk out of a hospital room. How easy is it to sit down and speak words of comfort when someone has lost their job. Courage from the shore is an easy boast! Then, as in everyone’s life, you encounter your own perfect storm… View full article »

In Gr8 Kidz, we teach our children how to be G-Godly (inward spiritual journey), R-Radical (outward spiritual results), 8 principles in all!  G.R.8 Kidz!   All of November we have been learning how to “Radically” Pray with Authority. In Gr8 Kidz this week we started a discussion on the importance of using the name of Jesus. We found out three important facts:

Why the Name?

1.  Jesus’ Name represented His Life (What Would Jesus Pray)

A name comes to represent who you are.  When people hear a name, their understanding of that name is associated with what that person or business does or did, (Tyson-chicken, Dominoes-Pizza, Jesus-Miracles!) Jesus name represented how he lived his life. When we say “In the name of Jesus” we are basically saying, “As Jesus would have done this!” or “With the Same Authority and Power that Jesus had on earth!” . So, how did Jesus live? This week in Gr8 Kidz we learned that Jesus listened every day for God’s Spoken Word.  He knew that there was a steady stream of fresh revelation coming from God all the time.  Jesus maintained a connection to the very Throne-Room of God!

John 12:49 (The Message)

49 I’m not making any of this up on my own. The Father who sent me gave me orders, told me what to say and how to say it.

Jesus Listened for Orders Straight from God

Jesus didn’t leave home without em!  He knew what his orders were.  He was ready to receive fresh information anytime and anywhere.  He was busy doing what God was doing.  He listened intently for God’s next move and he moved to obey when he was instructed.  God expects us to be ready for “God Moments” as well.  If we listen, God has orders for us that could totally change our lives and the lives around us.  Have an open spirit ready to hear God when He has an assignment for you.

Jesus only Spoke WHAT God Spoke

We always talk about having a made up mind? What about having a made up mouth?  Let’s make it a decision today.  James 3:10 says that blessings and cursings cannot come out of the same mouth.  James 1:8 says that the double minded man is unstable in all his ways, I have a sneaky suspicion View full article »
